today's AMAZING TV AD : honda's "cog" 2 minute tv spot

for more on this, go to this post :; april 14 post.
the inspiration is mount pinatubo when some years ago, all of a sudden, after decades of being dormant, it decided to erupt, spewing debris and ash several kilometers high, blowing ashes to float everywhere, far and wide, turning the skies gloomy gray as far away as metro manila, hundreds of kilometers away, covering metro manila streets and rooftops with thick ash. the pinatubo eruption was so powerful that its ashes changed the color of sunsets not only in the philippines but also worldwide.

that's what happens when clients and advertising agencies decide to run ads not worthy to be called advertising. its dark, its huge and very irritating and unfortunately, everywhere!

all they are doing is wawam! what a waste of advertising money!

here is a first row view of Philippine Advertising and Philippine Marketing.

mount pinatubo erupts shooting ashes several kilometers high, then floating to blanket many other towns hundreds of kilometers away

why put manny pacquiao in a bad light? a caricature of pinoy weakness?

in ads, a lot of effort is put into making the talents, most specially celebrities to look in the best possible light. ad agencies hire professional make up artists, costume designers and the best cameramen to make sure the talents look good on screen. directors are very particular to make sure that aside from making sure the storyboard is delivered, the talent should also look good. some celebrities even make it part of the their contract that their preferred make-up artist are hired for tv ads they appear in.

clients choose talents in their ads, specially celebrities, because they bring something good to the ad and the product. use a well loved celebrity and they expect sales to go up.

so why did vitwater make manny pacquiao look bad in their ad?

  1. allow me to quote part of your blog's caveat - "we will not tolerate rudeness or idiocy in this blog" well mr/mrs blogger, you're pretty rude yourself. as the saying goes, it's like the pot calling the kettle black.

relax. vitwater (or any other product out there) dont need a brilliant ad to make a sale. manny pacquiao is a champ and an idol to many across all age group, social class and gender. because of that he has a tremendous pull. just like you, you make him a subject of your blog blurs. why? i rest my case

  2. @anonymous

first of all, the subject of this blog is not about manny pacquiao but the ad made by vitwater using manny pacquiao.

products, specially new products like vitwater do need advertising, and hopefully a brilliant ad. a good ad will mean good sales.

unfortunately in this case, vitwater wasted the power of using pacquiao with an ad that made pacquiao look silly and a joke.vitwater should have made an ad worthy of the champion that pacquiao is.
